May 22, 2022 · We have a Peugeot 308 with stop/start and since it is not getting used much the battery voltage is a bit low so the stop/start is not working. About once a month I have been charging it with a Lidl smart charger and then the stop/start will work but I usually switch it off to save the battery and starter with these being expensive items.

There may be confusion here as there is a button on the system labelled eco mode, but this is only on cars equipped with stop/start. The one which stops the engine mid install is the economy mode which switches off equipment to protect the battery. If economy mode kicks in you can ruin your system.

This fault has existed on the C4 Picasso - it typically resets itself when the car is stopped, locked, opened and re-started - it is an issue with a controller that needs to be replaced; there is a technical bulletin for the Picasso, not sure of the number though but your dealer can lay their hands

However I'm not fully clear what the " economy mode" is all about and when it is triggered. I've read the manual but the 6 lines on thye economy mode don't tell me much! Basically when I try to put the radio/CD on (or a host of other functions) without the engine running, the car says " economy mode active".
